At NewYork-Presbyterian, our Mission is to serve our communities by providing equitable, world-class, patient and family-centered care in an empowering and innovative professional nursing practice environment. NYP nurses strive to meet the needs of patients across the continuum of care in a caring, competent, and culturally sensitive manner by assessing, planning, and communicating those needs to patients, families, and other professionals.
Clinical Ladder Rewards and Recognition program at NewYork-Presbyterian provides a method for the eligible Clinical Registered Nurses (RN) to advance in clinical practice, maintaining contact with patients. It provides a means of evaluating and recognizing ongoing progress in clinical expertise and leadership. Its ultimate goal is to foster engagement in nursing practice, reward and recognize staff, nurture clinical growth and enhance job satisfaction.
Each new clinical staff member at NewYork-Presbyterian is welcomed with a structured, competency-based orientation program tailored to their individual experience and area of practice. This program includes a precepted onboarding process and a personalized learning plan designed to meet specific developmental needs. A robust blended learning strategy—combining digital education, hands-on training, and clinical immersion—ensures a smooth and confident transition into their role. Competency achievement is tracked and validated through an electronic documentation system, promoting consistency, transparency, and accountability across all clinical areas. To support continued growth, unit-based professional development initiatives provide ongoing opportunities for learning, skill enhancement, and career advancement.
